Advancing Anatomic & Surgical Pathology with Unmatched Precision
Cutting-edge tools and smart solutions designed to refine diagnostics, improve reporting, and support better clinical decisions
Anatomic/Surgical Pathology
In Clinical Pathology, machine-based automation has been widely in use for testing blood, urine, and other fluids. Tabulated results are often presented in chart and graph formats, allowing patients to track their results alongside their normal ranges. Mainly, a pathologist only needs to review these machine-generated patient numbers, validate them, and “rubber-stamp” the reports. A follow-up consultation with the primary care physician may provide further interpretation and recommend a treatment plan if necessary to a patient.
At SpeedsPath, we recognize that anatomic and surgical pathology involves a far more intricate process, lab operating steps, histochemistry, grossing the specimens, generating glass slides, digital images for a highly specialized pathologist to provide his/her impressions. Unlike Clinical Pathology, tissue specimens must undergo multiple lab processing steps before a diagnosis report may be generated. Pathologists are trained to detect patterns in these slides by examining them under a microscope or on high resolution digital monitors at various magnification levels.
Slides prepared by lab staff typically use Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) or Papanicolaou (PAP) stains. Additionally, for advanced diagnostic testing, tissue specimens may be treated with various Immunohistochemistry (IHC) stains, dyes, and use molecular probes.
The Role of Digital Pathology and AI
Recent advances in digital pathology have begun transforming traditional workflows. In some cases, high-resolution scanned images of glass slides replace the microscope, allowing geographically distributed pathologists to collaborate on a case analysis and interpretation. Digitized slides also provide a foundation for Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven diagnostics, which may improve accuracy, assist in diagnosis, and enable predictive patient outcomes.
SpeedsPath AP and Molecular Lab System
The SpeedsPath AP and Molecular lab system has been field-tested with over a million surgical tissue samples from all over the patient’s body. This forces a lab system to satisfy the the needs of pathologists certified in a number pathology subspecialities including the following:
Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology (e.g., colon) Genitourinary (GU) Pathology (e.g., prostate) Dermatopathology (for skin) Cytology Bone Marrow Molecular Clinical
Our system generates comprehensive multi-page pathology reports featuring photomicrographs, tables, charts, and anatomic diagrams with cancer markers. Each report strictly adheres to College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) standards for quality and completeness.
Additionally, we offer customizable, tissue-specific one-page or two-page graphical report formats, which can be tailored to include:
Lab logos and addresses Pathologist electronic signatures CPT and ICD-10 codes
